Eve is a fine artist and a portrait painter based in Oklahoma

Art has been part of Eve Cornejo’s life for as long as she can remember. As a child, she loved drawing people and animals on sheets of paper, using art as a way to express herself, tell stories, and explore her imagination.
One of her earliest inspirations came from an unexpected place: her grandmother’s wardrobe, where Eve discovered a collection of reproductions of paintings by famous European artists. She spent hours studying them, wondering who the people were, what their lives might have been like, and what stories the artists were trying to tell. Those paintings became her first window into another time and taught her that art can preserve something of a life, a moment, or a story long after it has passed.
Although art was always part of her life, Eve began pursuing painting seriously later in life. She holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a master’s degree in accounting. While staying home with her children, she picked up a brush and began experimenting with acrylics. Her curiosity led her to explore different mediums before discovering her love for oil painting, which has become her primary medium.
Largely self-taught, Eve has continued to develop her skills through workshops and study with established artists. She paints a variety of subjects, including portraits, landscapes, and still lifes, but people remain her greatest inspiration.
At the heart of Eve’s work is an awareness of time: finite, irreversible, and constantly slipping away. She is drawn to fleeting moments, quiet emotions, changing light, and the beauty of things that exist only briefly. Whether capturing a person’s expression, the atmosphere of a landscape, or the familiar presence of everyday objects, she seeks to preserve experiences that might otherwise pass unnoticed.
While she cannot stop time, Eve believes painting can give it form. Through careful observation, light, and atmosphere, she attempts to slow a moment down long enough for it to be truly seen and felt, to preserve not only an appearance, but a feeling, a memory, or a sense of connection.
For Eve, every person carries a story, and every moment holds something worth noticing. Through her paintings, she hopes to create space for reflection and remind viewers of the beauty, emotion, and shared humanity woven into everyday life.
